These generals are somewhat ranked in order of best to worst, but they are grouped into tiers and not given specific number rankings. Two generals with static attack and defense can be easily compared, but many generals on this list have stats that change according to your health, attack, defense, or specific items in your army so you may have to do some calculations on your own to determine which general is best for you.

I've used Lyra as a benchmark since she’s a common Oracle general available at an early level. I’ve left off any general that is weaker than her. All are ranked based on the effective attack (attack + 0.7 defense) that the general adds to your normal attacking strength. I don’t think that Castle Age uses decimals. The decimals are only so that the calculations can be as accurate as possible. Whether CA rounds up or down, there will only be a 1-2 stat point difference where it matters, which is a trifling amount.

Some generals have attack bonuses with cooldowns. These generals are marked with three asterisks (***) in front of the name. When using one of these generals, know that they are only good for the ability and not so good otherwise. This might be a reason to avoid them altogether. Also note that these cooldown abilities are only good for monster attacks and pvp. They don’t have any effect in guild battles.



TIER 1

The best generals, but they are limited by your stats. Some of them start out weaker than Tier 2 generals, but as you level up and get stronger, they will eventually outpace them. Jahanna, Aurelius, Auroroa, and Corvintheus are four of the best generals in the game but their bonus is based on your current health and not your maximum, so they get weaker as you do. Xira has better stats than Evalice but Evalice has a better bonus. Both Evalice and Xira can be awesome for attacking depending on your defense but are terrible for defending. Ender, Gale, Kitsune, Aravoss, Aesir, Kanbe, Feredir, and Frost start off alright, but their abilities boost your total attack (attack + 0.7 defense + equipment attack + 0.7 equipment defense), which adds up for some tremendous bonuses late in the game.

Aurelius - 30/33, +1.1 defense for every 3 health points (Ascension Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 53.1 + 0.257*health (78.8 @ 100, 104.5 @ 200)

Aurora - 26/26, +1 attack per 4 health points (Onslaught Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 44.2 + 0.25*health (69.2 @ 100, 94.2 @200)

Corvintheus - 28/28, +1 defense for every 3 health (Oblivion Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 47.6 + 0.23*health (70.6 @ 100, 93.6 @ 200)

Ender - 43/32, +50 physical pierce, -10 fire resistance, -10 water resistance (Phoenix Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 65.4

Gale - 41/35, +8 physical pierce, +25 Wind offense (Phoenix Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 65.5

Kitsune - 38/38, +5 physical pierce, +5 fire offense, +5 water offense (Phoenix Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 64.6

Aravoss - 33/44, +8 physical pierce, +25 Earth offense (Phoenix Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 63.8

Aesir - 26/22, +40 physical pierce (4% boost to attack)
Effective attack: 41.4

Kanbe - 31/24, +20 physical pierce, +10 earth pierce (3% boost to attack)
Effective attack: 47.8

Feredir - 27/26, +20 physical pierce, +10 wind pierce (3% boost to attack)
Effective attack: 45.2

Frost - 25/25, +20 physical pierce, +10 water pierce (3% boost to attack)
Effective attack: 42.5


TIER 2

Most of these generals have statics stats that don't change with your health, attack, defense, or items in inventory. This means they can sometimes be stronger than 1st Tier generals and sometimes weaker than some 3rd Tier generals, but they are still very solid choices. Malekus and Ambrosia are notable exceptions, as their powers depend on how many generals you have in your keep. Though these two can be very strong, it takes quite a lot of generals for either of them to surpass most of the Tier 1 generals.

Axxon - 39/33, 10% chance the “Actions Left Counter” does not decrease at all upon victory when attacking enemy guild territory (Conquest Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 62.1

Isidra - 38/34, reduce damage player and adjacent allies recieve from Whirlwind by -20% (Conquest Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 61.8

Amon - 35/38, on stunning a target in guild battle, decreases defense of one adjacent enemy by 5% (Conquest Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 61.6

***Severin - 21/21, +25 attack for next 5 actions, 7 hour cooldown (Annihilator Chest, 2.5%)
Effective attack: 35.7 (60.7)

Malekus - 31/21, +0.45 attack per general owned (Vanguard Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 45.7 + 0.45x (54.7 @ 20, 59.2 @ 30, 68.2 @ 50)

Esmeralda - 35/34, Lacerate removes an additional -50 health in guild battles (Wrath Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 58.8

Tyrant - 36/32, Guardian protects an additional +100 health and resists an additional +10 damage per attack (Wrath Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 58.4

Kothas - 33/36, increases health restored with Resurrect by +50 (Wrath Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 58.2

Jaelle - 34/34, Mirror Image 20% less likely to be dispelled when attacked (Wrath Chest, 1.25%)
Effective attack: 57.8

Reinhardt - 31/25, +9 defense, extra +18 defense when attacked (Conquest Chest, 2.5%)
Effective attack: 54.8

Agamemnon - 35/28, +30 attack against monsters, +3% critical chance (Ascension Chest, 1.25%)

Ambrosia - 26/26, +0.45 defense per hero owned (Vanguard Chest, 1.25%)

TIER 3

Just about everyone else. All of them get by on raw stats. Lyra is the cutoff point for this guide because she is a Oracle general available at a fairly low level and fairly common.

TIER 4*

This is a little misleading because many of these generals are stronger than Tier 2 or 3 (sometimes Tier 1) generals. I’m putting all of them here though because they need a lot of gold or chest items to take full advantage of their abilities. Alyzia is quite good. Bjorin, Zeventis, and Azriel are alright. The rest aren’t really worth it and you’ll likely have better by the time you make their abilities worthwhile.

Athenia - 24/23, +1 attack per 50 Royal Seals owned, max +12 (Onslaught Chest, 2.5%)

Flaminius - 23/21, +2 attack per Flamewalker owned, max +50 (Wrath Chest, 4.58%)

Suri - 21/19, +0.2 defense for each hero owned

Draconius - 18/20, +2 defense per Griffin Rider owned, max 50(Onslaught Chest, 2.5%)

FREE GENERALS

None of the free generals aren’t that great for attacking, but here they are for comparison against everyone I’ve already listed. I stopped with Vanquish since she is very readily obtainable. Medius starts off weaker but can be a bit better once you farm lots of Frost Bolts.

Nautica - 19/14, +6 attack, (Atlantis, 150000000, currently FB-only)
Effective attack: 34.8

Deshara - 21/19, +40 additional damage as Rogue on victory
Effective attack: 34.3

Vanquish - 18/17, +20 attack, -25 defense (Land of Water, 600000 gold)
Effective attack: 32.4

Medius - 17/17, +1 attack per Frost Bolt owned, max +10 (Combine 3 Genesis Sword - epic Genesis drop, and 3 Frost Bolt - epic Ragnarock drop in Alchemy)
Effective attack: 28.9 (38.9)
